I disagree with this action by our City. In my view we must adapt to a future of less water use per capita as a permanent goal. Further, the State must start a long-term program aimed at agriculture to significantly decrease water intensive crops and curtail pumping from the water tables statewide. Manufacturing should likewise be incented to recover waste water for re-use.

The overall water situation in California is still bleak and loosening our conservation efforts shortsighted.

It would be nice to see savvy Californians approaching their water usage as they might approach saving for retirement or building a buffer for financial emergencies. Except in this case, the proverbial and inevitable "rainy day" for which we save is a prolonged drought. Our planet is changing. One rainy winter does not a permanent reservoir make. Why change back to more profligate watering behavior?

I believe watering needs to take place before 8a.m. or after 6p.m. Watering between 8a.m. and 6p.m. includes the warmest hours of the day when much of the water evaporates quickly. Can someone clarify? Perhaps the restriction is lifted for those times but shouldn't watering, if possible, be done at the coolest times of the day? We still need to make smart water choices.
