That said, Oakland downtown is now a pretty happening place. I've been pleasantly surprised at how cool it is.

It's quite impressive that they propose to add 6550 workers with only 500 additional car trips daily. That implies that they are going to shift their existing employees away from cars and into their buses and bikes and also that they are going to push very hard to get new employees to take transit.

It's amazing that they are offering this - the city needs to accept the offer and make sure it is enforced. I don't think we could get an offer this good on traffic from any other potential owner of this property.

FB is in the perfect position to turn this all around and build elsewhere. Yes, our bay area is beautiful and people want to live and work here but.... Why not start developing in another area and make that a little oasis as they propose to do to all of their work spaces.
