It is now time for this building to come down, that has so much become a part of Menlo Park daily life and its history. The choice becomes 1) haul the building off to the landfill, buried with other debris, garbage and unwanted and forgotten items, or 2) to find a new home, give it a new address and breath life back into this iconic building for yet another generation.
The Roger Reynolds Nursery began in year 1919. When it closed in year 2013, 97 years later, it was the longest continuously operated nursery in the Peninsula. The Carriage House was moved here in 1950, near 66 years ago. It has served the needs of the community for a very long, long time.
While some citizens feel strongly about this issue, the reality is that others do not - much like there may be a difference of opinion about Grandma. How one sorts out the pros and cons is a frequent question for many. Either way, I'm told there is little time left, as on May 1st, the Carriage House must go. For my nickel, it's an issue well worth seriously considering.
