Recent home sales: Area experiencing low inventory?

Sales in just three local cities in this week's column could reflect the low inventory that real-estate agents have been talking about. Only Los Altos, Mountain View and Palo Alto had reported sales.

Although there is a dearth of listings in the our area, I notice that homes are staying on the market significantly longer than they did last year. In Ladera, which like the rest of Portola Valley, is considered very desirable there are listings that have been for sale for a long time. Given the lack of homes for sale, I'd have expected them to sell quickly. Now I'm wondering if the demand is still there or if the housing market is cooling off. If so, will we be seeing a decline in prices? Oh for a crystal ball!
