Is it even possible for him to waive his rights under the POBR?
We are going to find out soon enough
Wait a minute... slippery slope.
Soon all these criminals will want their investigations made public. Just think about all those families of victims, I mean criminals, shot by cops and caught on cell phone video. Next thing ya know, those families of victims, I mean criminals, will want independent investigations not run by some prosecutor cozy with the cops. Can't have that.
Camel nose under the tent.
I've notified Citizen Access TV to see if they can cover this event for the public, they have the ability to not only video it but can also broadcast it live.
Has the San Mateo District Attorney's office made a comment on this, Almanac?
Curious asks a great question, so far not one of the 7 papers in SMC has mentioned this subject at all.
Some background info.
Web Link
The Almanac has plans to be there for this event.
Curious ..... You think the Distric Attorney have something to say about this.... Noooo ..... they all are full of BS.. Is time for a change they hide what they want.
Looking forward to the Internal Affairs meeting , it is opened to the public per Deputy Juan Lopez' request & it will be video taped.
In what room is this being held?
Exactly what is the description of this event?
The Civil Service Commission Appeal Hearing for Juan Lopez
455 County Center, 4th Floor Room 101
Redwood City, Ca. 94063
What punitive action is he appealing? Has he been stripped of rank, or been fired?
Deputy Juan Lopez has not been fired or stripped of rank.
San Mateo County Sheriff Deputy Juan Lopez is appealing.
1) Sheriff Office has identified him as a Brady Officer.
2) 150 hour suspension without pay.
Is this the same Michael Stogner who claimed in 2011 that the FBI was investigating officials in Atherton and the D.A.'s office? It was the perfect hoax since the FBI has a policy of never confirming or denying that it is doing an investigation. But four years later and it is clear that nobody was arrested. No search warrants were executed. It was all a hoax. So why would anybody believe Stogner today? Just another hoax.
Debunker: FBI investigation was not a hoax. Bonnie Slinger from the Mercury News interviewed people who were interviewed by the FBI about Wagstaffe in story here. Web Link
Should read "Bonnie Eslinger" Darn auto-correct
debunker when you read the article by Bonnie Eslinger it confirms the FBI Investigation.
Nowhere did it say Stogner Says,
Lets stay focused on the future as in the November 10, 2015 9:00AM Hearing.
Does anyone believe news stories based on anonymous sources?
What Stogner said, the issue here is whether Juan Lopez is being mistreated here, which does have something to do with the SMC district attorney Wagstaffe, friend of sheriff Greg Munks, Lopez's election opponent who may have a vendetta against him.
This article:
1. Has a quote confirming FBI involvement from named Peter Carpenter.
2. Does not quote Stogner unless he's one of the several unnamed sources.
Agreed, no arrests came from the FBI involvement. This could mean:
1. SMC district attorney did nothing wrong.
2. SMC district attorney acted questionably, but didn't rise to the level of a provable criminal offense.
What cannot be inferred from this is the lack of an arrest in the prior FBI investigation against Wagstaffe means he's doing nothing wrong to Lopez. Let's stick with the facts of this case.
8Ball: Look at today's NY Times and the Washington Post. Then go back and look at their articles from past years. These papers and every paper routinely use anonymous sources . Woodward and Bernstein's "Deep Throat" was always used as an anonymous source.
[Post removed; stick to the topic.]
Those who are attending the hearing today: remember to post details here afterward. Who is the prosecutor in this case?
I watched for 1 1/2 hours. Mark De Paula and Michael Stogner were there. Plenty of media. Bil Silberfarb was there.
Juan's family was there. Seven witnesses were to be heard. They were still on the first one. All about the transfer of an inmate in 2013, and the original investigation which ensued.
Surely the hearing must be over by now?
Wow long day ended at 5:25PM
The Commission found in favor of the Sheriff Office.
What Commission was this?
What was Lopez' claim? And denied why?
The same ol' posters are desperate - the guy they backed got busted and all their posts reflect pure desperation, (part removed)
Are they honestly hoping for justice, or just desperate to not be embarrassed (part rdmoved) Inquiring minds want to know.
So they suspended him for not being honest? Hih?? Why didn't Munks suspend himself when he said he didn't know he was going into a house of prostitution with young trafficked girls? This is a farce of the highest order
Additionally many other deputies have not been punished at all for far worse.
For tho love of God aren't there any hungry and intrepud reporters out there who will look into how the County has treated other deputies who have committed felonies or misconduct at the jail or on their computers over the years?
