We can only hope that making "repairs to the drainage channel wall" involves dropping a pipe in the culvert and burying it with dirt topped with asphalt.

On a related topic, when is the channel going to be REBUILT?

That channel is a ticking time bomb. I drive by the channel regularly and recall when we had major rains that the channel was FULL. The channel needs to be rebuilt to a larger capacity. The flooding of homes and major transit corridors will take place unless this is made a priority.

Atherton residents approved the parcel tax, even though the money wasn't needed for the town's daily operational costs. The money to rebuild is clearly there.

The town has dragged its feet on this matter to such a degree, I think it's risking significant liability in the event the channel's banks are breached during rains.

In my opinion, the channel is more important than a new civic center, bike lanes, park improvements, road paving, stoplights or the # of lanes on El Camino. This needs to be treated as the top priority it is.

Get it done.
