Local effort to help animal victims of Valley wildfire

When Joanne Klebe learned of the many animals who perished in September's Valley wildfire in Lake County, she says: "It hit me to the core. I live in the wonderful community of Portola Valley, which is horse country and realized this could happen in my own backyard."

This is wonderful work! Has anyone heard if the elephant preserve near San Andreas survived any casualties, and if they could use donations? My sister near there is fostering several farm animals.

AFAIK, the PAWS (Performing Animal Welfare Society) sanctuary near San Andreas was not affected by the recent wildfires. The current President of PAWS, Ed Stewart, posted a message on their website saying basically that they never had to evacuate any of their people or animals. I had no idea that PAWS and these sanctuaries even existed until I read your comment, and went looking on the web for an answer to your question. Thank you! And, yes, they can always use donations.
