Why is morning traffic south on El Camino so heavy this year?

Yes, I have seen this, too. I have also noticed that the backup on ECR turning left onto Alma in PA is frequently terrible, extending back beyond the start of the left turn lane, and sometimes even through a light or two north. I have had it take three cycles to actually get through this light.

Should be great fun when we lose another traffic lane to a rarely used bus lane in service of the vision of a "Great Boulevard".

The citizens have to speak up to the elected officials and say enough, more lanes not less.

I'd guess the additional cars are folks trying to avoid the huge 101 backup caused by the bridge construction (lane closed between University and Oregon).

The recommendation "More lanes, not less" does not work. Check out some of our favorite sprawl cities in this country where they built more and more lanes (but were too cheap to invest into side walks, bike lanes or mass transit).... no matter how many lanes they add, they always fill up and lead to traffic congestion! We have to build smarter, not just "more."

More jobs, more people, more cars.

@MoreMoreMore You forgot to mention more drivers playing with their smartphones when they should be focusing on their driving instead.

If you are complaining about traffic while driving your car, you are part of the problem.
