Tuesday: Menlo Park city manager to get raise under new contract

He deserves it for putting up with the usual nasty ex-mayors. The same people who ran Jan Dolan out of town. How many city managers do you want to go through?

Ex employees can always do it better. Just ask them. It is also the usual people against everything in Menlo Park. Just putting up with the BS is worth a pay raise.

9% must be nice...

How many employees are getting a 9% raise?

If we're using nuisance factor as a metric, sounds as though our unpaid former council volunteers all deserve hefty gifts for having to put up with the arrogant insults of certain self-entitled members of the community.

Meanwhile, McIntyre surely deserves double the raise for managing to stay within the letter if not the spirit of the law. His model of sleaze serves as an inspiration to many of you.

For putting up with Schmidt, Borak, Morris, and Robinson MacIntyre definitely earned his keep. Good thing Slocum and Fergusson weren't part of that lunacy or else we have to give him 20% to stay and he would have earned every penny.

This is only the "Bargaining" phase of the greaving process for the die-hard Measure M crowd.

9% does seem high considering teachers are only getting 3%!

McIntyre does not deserve to have his contract renewed. Doesn't matter what your political leaning may be, the guy has shown time and time again that he cannot be trusted to serve the residents nor the Council, he wastes money left and right and is arrogant in his communications . Bring in another developer friendly city manager with more integrity. We need a Less divisive City manager and one who is more transparent and can bring about the necessary changes to our community.

And how do you know he wasn't doing what the cc wanted. Just because he doesn't do your biding? He has performed what the CC wanted or he wouldn't be getting a pay raise. But then none of the people and be pleased all the time.

I was referring to his unprofessional and ethically challenged strategies to achieve his goals, which most likely do mirror those of the Council. Unless the Council is feigning the shock and surprise Each and everytime his methods are exposed.

Mr. Smith had the correct background to to create appropriate content for the city website. He worked as the Public Communication and Engagement Manager for Redwood City for over a decade, and has never worked as a political consultant.

Well the Council on a 4 YES to 1 NO voted to extend McIntyre's contract, complete with a very nice raise.

Only Ray Mueller voted NO; congratulations to him for sticking up for integrity in Menlo Park Governance.

Council members Carlton,Cline,Ohtaki and Keith all voted for the extension, and spent about 20 minutes explaining their votes.


The POST today (6/03/2015) has a front page article with a headline of

"As one city councilman put it, it's not like he embezzled money"

Shame on these 4 councilpersons. Yesterday was a very black day for those who expect integrity in Menlo Park governance.

Kudos to Councilman Mueller who was the sole vote against extending City Manager McIntyre's contract.

Talk about setting the bar LOW for the City of Menlo Park. Yeah, McIntyre hasn't been arrested for any criminal activity yet, so we'll keep him. And let's give him a hefty raise for being below average cause it's just too much to ask our elected officials to find someone more competent. Way to go City of Menlo Park, you've really done it this time. McIntyre is laughing all the way to the bank and the City Council look like total fools for approving a new contract.
