I am so sorry to hear that Marcel Vinokur passed away recently. What a great loss to the area! In the 1970s I often drove from San Jose over to his international folk dance parties on the weekend. Nearly 100 people danced together all night long. First Marcel would patiently and untiringly teach some dances, and then the rest of the evening he took requests, Israeli, Scottish, American, he had them all. He was a brilliant, kind, generous man, and I am so sorry he is gone.
I found this sad announcement of our loss of Marcel Vinokur while searching the web for Vinokur lemon cake. His wife made wonderful desserts for the international folk dance parties, and I was wild about her lemon cake, the best ever. I can't find my recipe and want it badly. I'm sorry I haven't been able to find the recipe on the Internet, and I'm sorrier still about our loss of a wonderful man, Marcel Vinokur.
