Tonight: Changes to Menlo Park's heritage tree ordinance discussed

Improving replacement tree planting and survival rates, and better protecting the city's heritage trees, are three of the priorities for proposed changes to Menlo Park's heritage tree ordinance. The Environmental Quality Commission will talk about those changes tonight.

And when will the City take responsibility for all the damage city trees do to homeowners' driveways, lawns, sewer and water lines and walkways. And also stop charging property owners to fix city tree damaged street sidewalks and curbs.

While they're at it how about a ban on city street trees which drop tripping hazards and are prone to damaging property with their roots.

Last but not least stop planting of city street trees under power lines resulting in the trees being topped and roots spreading out causing even more damage.
