What are the options for the Menlo Park dissidents?

In their campaign for Measure M a number of residents made clear that they neither trust their elected representatives nor the democratic process.
What are their options?
1 - Attempt to secede their neighborhood from the City of Menlo Park,
2 - Sell their property and move to a community that has the amenities and governance which they seem to desire,
3 - Recognize that they are part of a larger community and begin to engage in constructive dialogue.
It will be interesting to see which option they choose.
