Looking forward to seeing the documentary.

"Where were you at 5:04pm, October 14, 1989?"

Outside the 5th & Mish garage, headed west on Mission, looking to get onto 101 to return home to watch the game. Could of swore someone was jumping up and down on the rear bumper of my car, then I heard all the car alarms from the 5 story open air garage, and saw clouds of dust rise up, down Mission St. The pre-game on the radio, of course, cut out.

Copped an illegal U-turn in the middle of Mission St, turned right down 4th and frankly, had the least crowded ride down the peninsula EVER. Everyone was already home or at the game.

An image seared into my mind: a young woman, moments after the quake, on a single knee, with a death-grip on the stoplight pole on the island at 4th and Mission, a look of sheer terror on hear face.

Unforgettable.
