Editorial endorsement: City Council choices

I applaud the Almanac's wisdom in endorsing the incumbents for another term. They have done a commendable job for the residents and have earned our trust and our vote.

Thank you Peter Ohtaki, Kirsten Keith, and Rich Cline for being such selfless public servants who have put the good of the Menlo Park and the residents first and foremost. We are fortunate to have you as the judicious and pragmatic stewards of our city's destiny. Keep up the good work!

The Almanac's endorsements are hardly surprising. The paper has in general backed the "pro-development" crowd over the years.

So now you see in each issue full page and 3/4 page adds paid for by Greenheart -- is it any wonder the editorial department endorses its project?

Disappointing yes, but hopefully the MP voters will not be bought off by Greenheart.

Old timer, the inability of Save Menlo to source viable candidates is not the fault of the Almanac. Their assessment of the challengers is factual.

"Factual" representations are always predicated on the facts that one chooses to represent.

Is there a reason that the misconduct leading to a judgement against Keith's husband in the course of a prior Keith campaign is not mentioned? Is that a fact worth presenting?

Is there a reason that developer donations to all 3 of the incumbent campaigns is not mentioned? Is that a fact worth presenting?

The incumbents "fell down" (quote from link) on a number of fronts after 6 years and more than $1,700,000 formulating the DSP. I guess, that's another fact ...

There has not been any misconduct alleged during a prior Keith campaign. Chuck Bernstein did run for city council in 2010, and pledged "no more sabotage" Web Link but he was not making that pledge to his neighbors.
