Having survived several BIG earthquakes, I agree with everything we're being told about earthquake preparedness. BUT... there is one important thing no one ever mentions.
In the Loma Prieta quake, a lot of friends had things flying off shelves in their bathroom, landing in the toilet, and cracking/breaking the toilet. Yet another mess to add to the mess.
But those of us who ALWAYS close the toilet LIDS all over the house, didn't have that happen. It's so simple. Just close the toilet LID, and keep it closed when the toilet is not actually in use. Not just the seat, but the LID. That takes all of about 3 seconds, but will be worth ever so much when the big quake comes!!!!!!!!!
