I totally agree this burglar would make a great candidate for the 2015 Darwin Awards. Obviously not the sharpest tool in the tool shed.

fyi, the Darwin awards are not simply synonymous with a demonstration of a lack of intelligence, though that characteristic certainly improves the probability of receiving the award. The Darwin award is given only posthumously to those individuals who have improved our chances of survival as a species by removing themselves from gene pool in spectacular and uncommon fashion of their own device. The rules also preclude nomination of individuals who do so while including innocent victims in their act.
Since the individual in this case remains alive and thus a candidate to procreate, he is ineligible to be nominated for a Darwin award.
