Fire Chief Harold Schapelhouman was not on the scene.
He told the Almanac that he could have gone to the scene, but it would not have been until the firefighting crews staged nearby for the second alarm had joined the crews already fighting the fire.
Division Fire Chief Frank Fraone was on the scene and in regular contact, Chief Schapelhouman said.

The damage from the fire is effecting upcoming experiments and is a setback for many people. It's great to hear no one was injured.
