Healthcare Districts getting politically active

Sequoia Healthcare District, on whose Board I have served since 2002, is a dues paying member ($20,000/year) of the Association of California Healthcare Districts(ACHD). I have previously reported on Grassroots activities of ACHD. Web Link
On June 26th, the Sequoia Healthcare District hosted a "media training day" for ACHD.
ACHD is stepping up their political activity. Web Link This event may be the reason for the meeting rescheduling request. Some Directors are said to be "out of town" on the August 7th Regular meeting date. Despite my request for information, no particulars have been made available as to which Directors will be out of town, and why. Web Link
The annual meeting of ACHD was held in La Jolla, CA in May.
The Cash Disbursements Journal for the Sequoia Healthcare District shows ACHD meeting expenses as follows: Director Art Faro $1,344.56 Director Katie Kane $1098.80 and Board President Shefren $1,251.06. CEO Lee Michelson also attended the ACHD meeting. (cost TBD)
Earlier this year, our CEO, along with President Shefren, attended ACHD Legislative Days in Sacramento at a cost to taxpayers of $1,274.70.

1200 for 3 days in Sac is high, depends on who he is meeting with and who is host, but 1200 for a 3 day conf in la holla jolla is nuthing, you should see waht I spend for three days

check out any healthcare shows like AAPM, takes some serious coin to spread the healthcare word to those big time

Sequoia Healthcare District CEO, Lee Michelson, maintains communication with the California Special District Association(CSDA). While the Sequoia Healthcare District is no longer a dues paying member, it is notable that the CSDA is actively pursuing the reduction in vote requirement for special taxes (including parcel taxes) to 55%. Web Link If these obsolete Healthcare Districts are allowed to continue, you can expect to see a barrage of parcel tax measures.

So this thread is not about the district, trips, grassroots and/or being politically active? Jack twists it back to his 'destroy the district', all taxes bad, tired rant in one easy step. All without addressing the post that questioned his opening assertion. Anyone surprised? Didn't think so.

Exposing political activity of ACHD and CSDA lobbyists funded by property tax dollars collected by healthcare districts frantically trying to justify their existence is on topic.
The AAPM is a scientific and professional organization. ACHD is an advocacy organization originally established to support "hospital" districts created by voters. Now that most hospital districts no longer own or operate hospitals, ACHD has become the political arm of healthcare districts morphed without voter approval.
I am an advocate for taxpayers. ACHD and CSDI by supporting SCA11, clearly are not friends of the taxpayer. It is outrageous that our tax dollars are supporting these organizations. Healthcare districts without voter approval should be dissolved.

This is not about "saving lives", it's about growing redundant bureaucracies.
