Lawsuit filed over car collision with horses on I-280

A lawsuit has been filed by Menlo Park physician Dr. Jean W. Gillon over an incident in the early morning darkness of Dec. 29, 2012, when a Mercedes Benz she was driving collided with at least one of four Webb Ranch horses that had gotten loose and wandered on to the northbound lane of Interstate 280 just north of Alpine Road.

At the time this accident occurred, multiple barns in the area had horses turned loose - all within a three day period. There are reports filed with the Los Altos Police Dept. regarding the horse gates opened in the middle of the night in the Arastradero area.

Unfortunately, no business can protect itself against vicious vandalism - and, this incident appears to be the first in at least three incidents within several days.

It is unfortunatel that Dr. Gillon was injured, however, there were flares out at the time of the accident and perhaps caution at the scene of an accident could have prevented her injury.

Dr. Gillon bears some responsibility for not heeding the cautionary flares. It is also sad that every time an accident occurs, the first thing people turn to are lawyers instead of seeking the truth in the situation.
