Then, after some pressure from the parents, he authorized an outside investigator to interview current and past gymnastic teachers and staff... something he previously neglected to do. It's been a couple of weeks since the investigation has been completed and still no word… as if he's trying to sweep this under the carpet yet again. Since taxpayers paid for the investigation, we not only have the right to know the content and opinion of the lawyer who conducted the investigation, but also what actions the City Manager will take to address the issues that were uncovered.
If a mistake was made and Michelle was fired for complaining about a hostile work environment, then it's up to the City Manager to take some sort of action to avoid a costly lawsuit. How much more money are taxpayers expected to shell out for his refusal to look at the facts in the report and do what is right? It seems to me that there has been a lack of leadership. There has been enough bad press for the City over it's refusal to be transparent, it's time for the City Manager to come clean... and clean house!!! The community deserves answers, not just the City Manager saying "I reviewed the report and there is nothing in it to warrant any changes." We need to see the report.
And... one last thing... I heard this thru the grapevine that Michelle has a lawyer who, working on her behalf, tried to mediate with the City Manager. Her attempts evidently fell on deaf ears. By failing to respond to Michelle and her attorney, it now is likely headed toward a costly lawsuit. The City Council needs to hear from concerned residents urging them to read the report that was paid for with our tax dollars and take appropriate action before it costs the City even more in dollars and reputation.
