Of course they have no interest in getting citizen input. The last minute grandstanding of commissioning a survey about the library in the park along with other issues is just dishonest. They are not bound by the results and are making the same mistake as the police survey done several years ago. Mayor Widmer represents he has already made up his mind but but would like citizen input. What is the point of the survey then?
This survey, like the police one, is limited to a small group of Atherton voters. The outside company claims unusual insight into the community and will only use 200 voters and extrapolate the results to all of Atherton voters. Like the police survey people will immediately discredit it because they were not interviewed and will criticize the questions asked saying they were skewed to produce a particular result.
So Council, save our money ($20,000) and put this issue on a ballot and let us decide. This is called democracy.

$750,000 of next year's library budget is for Architectural Services.
