Is it silly to be critical of the "problem" of parking congestion?
There seems to be two issues
1) The gym is popular and well-used. This is a reflection of public benefit. I can only imagine the alternative (let's not build a new gym...doing that only fill the parking lot)
2) There is plenty of parking in the area. I have been there at the peak of the Arrillaga's use (4 youth basketball games, at once!). My solution was to park in the open parking spaces, 2 minute walk from the gym (3 minutes from the library), in the lot near the ball field. If you can imagine, I even rode my bike once!

A lot of library users can't walk far. There is no sidewalk along Alma What an oversight that is!
The problems were predictable, and were predicted. Staff pooh-poohed concerns, and the council was too afraid of pushing back even a little on Arrilagga's plans.
The real problem is that there is no master plan for Burgess Park. If there were, the skate park probably wouldn't be where it is. I think there is plenty of space for green park areas, play fields, buildings, and yes even parking but there must be a plan. It's never too late, just more expensive.
