I'm already getting sick of Facebook being in our town. It's not a company that benefits anything, it just supports drama, stalking and privacy breaching. Why do so many people look past those glaring cons? Additionally I don't think it should be admirable to work for Facebook. It should be embarrassing that so many people buy into their theory of a transparent world, information wise.

No one forces people to sign up for Facebook. 800,000,000 people seem to enjoy it.

People are being coerced more and more to sign up, I'm afraid. There are media sites, including a local newspaper chain, that won't let you post comments unless you're on Facebook. Pressure builds to sign on, but I can tell you that if I ultimately sign up, I'll be holding my nose, not enjoying it.

I love it. I used Facebook during the Chile quake to help family members in France know that their loved one was OK and so was his house... I found the message via his friends in other South American counries! Pretty cool. And I love having Facebook here in my hometown. So what if folks wanna stalk me. I could make myself hidden, but I have nothing to hide. P.S. I got a free roundtrip to see my daughter perform that I could afford from a famous person I met on Facebook because he was a fan and said I could NOT miss the show. He bought it and said he would be doing someone a favor (by letting them have an empty seat next to them) if I chose not to take it. Not to mention I reconnected with so many of my childhood friends, and I can follow my daughters shows, since they do not have time to constantly update me from the road.
Some of this discussion reminds me or a Sartre quote... people say they hate tomatoes without ever having eaten one.
