Will town say 'yea' to Willie Mays Way?

With the backing of most residents of the street, a local Little League leader wants the town of Atherton to rename Mount Vernon Lane to Willie Mays Way, after one of the street's most famous residents.

I'm not sure why the residents of the street, or Mr. Mays, would support this. Take a moment to really think about the potential consequences. Has it occurred to Mr. Barstad that Mr. Mays may not appreciate the added attention to his residence and family? A better idea would be to honor Mr Mays, by renaming a little league field, a driveway leading to the field or some other town landmark.
