Town of Atherton
January 25, 2012
Atherton Interim City Manager John Danielson has submitted his resignation from the Town of
Atherton. Mr. Danielson's last day with the Town will be Friday, January 27, 2012. This is a
result of California Public Employees Retirement System denying the December 22n request
from Council to extend his contract to assist with transitional activities.
Mr. Danielson is credited with improving Atherton's financial condition and leading the Town
during a period of great change.
Upon Council approval at their January 27th special meeting the Town intends to appoint Deputy
City Clerk Theresa DellaSanta as the Interim City Manager. At the same meeting Council will
consider a consulting agreement with Mr. Danielson to provide recruitment services and
executive advisory services to the new Interim City Manager for a period of up to 90 days.
Mr. Danielson will have no direct staff involvement nor will he be directing any Town activities,
effective immediately.
"Mr. Danielson said he appreciates the opportunity Council has given him to come in and assist
Atherton through the initial stages of such difficult transition."
"On behalf of City Council we would like to thank Mr. Danielson for his dedication and hard
work over the last year and we appreciate his offer to continue with recruitment services which
are already underway," said Mayor Widmer.
"Ms. DellaSanta said she appreciates Councils confidence in their consideration for the
appointment."
