Atherton Interim City Manager John Danielson has submitted his resignation

I think this definitely qualifies to make the world record for number of city managers within any given time period. Way to go, Atherton! And great mismanagement by Dobbie for not putting this recruitment into action long before Danielson's clock ran out. The admin asst is now the town manager? Wow.

Any chance of getting Jerry Gruber back? With Marsala running in the next election, it would be a great way to come full circle.

Another city manager bites the dust courtesy of the meddling of Kathy McKeithen. She has been responsible for so many lawsuits and so much personnel turnover, with her vendetta against the police department and anyone who disagrees with her. If Kathy McKeithen is still around when the next manager is picked, he or she won't last long either.

To the poster "no surprise': Just more very predictable spin from the Lewis camp. "Lets blame it on McKiethen and eventually something will stick". Actually McKiethen and Dobbie were the only ones who seemed desperate to keep Danialson on board (not exactly sure why)- If you watch the meeting tape you can see that Lewis was rather enthusiastic about moving on as soon as possible, to someone easier for her to manipulate.
But Theresa as acting City Manager?
The secretary from the HM Bay Harbor District who Wilkerson brought on board? This girl is not even a qualified City Clerk. Although I believe the Town has been letting her use up the staff educational allotment to study for certification at some time in the future.
I'm really surprised that they didn't tap Flint again as they did last month when they needed a fill in.

Just when you think the Atherton follies can't get any worse there is another episode, and we can pretty much guess at the plot: A new search will begin for a town manager, Calpers will not let Danielson stay and he will not be involved as a consultant since that is an obvious fraud. So any good candidate for manager who is good will look into the tenure and circumstances of the last ten years of previous managers and note the rapid turnover of Town managers, police chiefs, building dept managers etc. and look at the general morale of employees (the few that are left). He/she will investigate the role of the Council and see that Kathy McKeithen is the reason behind and at the center of all the turnover and dysfunction on the Council assisted by her foils and tools...the current examples being micromanaging Dobbie and Widmer.
The reality is that no one good will want to work for McKeithen et al and if they do they will not be strong enough to stand up to these three. Until McKeithen is gone the follies will continue.

Danielson served us well and professionally; his leaving was a consequence of a CalPERS decision, not a failing by either him or the council.

DellaSanta will rise to the occasion; her year under Danielson's tutelage is the equivalent of a master's degree in town management.

Those who look for nothing by faults and failures will always find or create what they seek.

Peter, you are so predictable and tiresome. This is your usual theme..if you don't like the message blame the poster for being unregistered. The argument is without merit and has been discussed and discussed but the the real issue is what the posters are saying. I do not think anyone has attacked Danielson per se as he has done a fine job. Why did he not do what he was hired to do which was to help pick a new permanent town manager and hopefully train him/her a bit. Why did he time out? You have to look to Dobbie for the answer but now that you have bestowed a Master degree on DellaSanta who is in her twenties and only a year in the job I suppose it is satisfactory.She will be perfect and I know will stand up to McKeithen, Dobbie and Mayor Widmer.

None of these posters wanted to do anything except anonymously attack their particular 'enemy' - hardly respectful and thoughtful gathering place for information and opinion. How many of them dared put their name on their comments - NONE.
