Town Square

It's wine time at Lutticken's

Original post made on Sep 10, 2011

Lutticken's Deli, a fixture in West Menlo Park for 30 years, has had an "extreme makeover." The once-worn interior has been transformed with "okra" green walls with white crown molding and woodwork, handsome lighting, and comfortable seating areas.

So Luttiken's can become essentially a bar, but Walgreens is not allowed to see beer and wine? I don't get the "logic" behind this.

Whine:

Lutiken's is in teh county. The city has nothing to say about it. In addition, they've always had a beer and wine liquor license.

The place looks GREAT...good luck to Luttiken's.

Menlo Voter is correct.....In the County...not City of Menlo Park.

Way before it was Lutticken's, it was the "Little Corral",(Or as we called it- "Emmet's") run by George and Jean Sousa. We Stanford guys did a lot of serious beer drinking there in the early and mid '50's. Lot of history there.

There was an interview that showed parents who were meeting up for wine then driving their children home was met with ambush opposition to the diea. For the skinny Menlo Moms, one big glass can be too much. Sets a poor example. Hopefully, many will walk.

I've been a customer of Luttiken's since I was in high school - I forgot about it the last 10 years - I don't know why, I guess it just wasn't in my routine... I stopped by every 6 months or so when I craved a classic deli sandwich. I was pleasantly surprised when I came in last month to see the renovation - the food was great, my BF loved the pastrami. Same Luttikens - same prices, new look. I'll be coming back with my girls for wine and cheese! Nice job Bob! Check this place out.
