Budget crisis top issue in supervisor's race

Saving the middle class would start with making run-down neighborhoods attractive to owner occupiers and 1st time buyers. Many tenant occupied dwellings have non-permitted structures which allow over-crowding, gang activity and blight as defined by the state legistlature. BUT the county's building department's official position is, "over crowding is not a priority". The tennis shoes on the power lines mark the spots. Change that!
Every tenant occupied land owner votes 'no' to parcel taxes that would help schools in the local neighborhoods they do not live in. Tenants vote no (if they even vote) to keep their rents down. County wide change is needed.

Well, the over crowding is the biggest issue. But, if Cargill wants to develop, have them include the new jail out there too!

2nd question had nothing to do with San Mateo County Supervisor level, as you point out.

These are just questions that people in the audience ask, often they have nothing to do with what the Supervisors deal with.

For the record, in the decision to deny San Mateo County voters a referendum on whether the county should have at-large or by-district elections for supervisors, the Board of Supervisors voted 4-1, with then-Supervisor Rich Gordon dissenting.
