"unlike every other commission vacancy listed on the page, the SamTrans Transit Expert post contains no information, no link to detailed information describing what the position entails, what qualifications one may need or even whom to contact to make such an application. Regardless, the deadline to apply for the unusually classified Transit Expert seat on the SamTrans board is Dec. 6, 2010."
"It appears that the Board of Supervisors is again embracing an opaque and anti-democratic process to install a friend to an important county post. Whether the lack of a public and transparent process is a sin of omission or a sin of commission it really doesn’t matter. This is bad government and it needs to stop immediately."

Just one more example of the county's power machine doing what it does best: Maintaining absolute control over government agencies and keeping out the riffraff. Can anyone remember when the words "public process" meant anything in this county? This is disgusting.

Hi Marshall,

Would you please look into this for me. The County's website works perfectly well for all of the other links except this one. Also please tell me what the reporting/noticing requirements are re: this position.

I have just emailed the Board of Supervisors regarding the SamTrans Transit Seat Application Deadline. Here is my email:

Dear Supervisors,
I am asking you to extend the time period for the SamTrans Transit Seat Application. The reason for my request is that the county's website which lists the subject matter is not linked to anything. There is no way for the pubic to find out what the qualifications are or what the job entitles. I'm sure there are many citizens of San Mateo County who would like to know about the availability.

The Board of Supervisors have extended the time period for all the citizens of San Mateo County to try to find out what the position might be or if there are any requirements for the position. The only catch is the links on the County website still don't work.

The Good news is you have until December 31, 2010 to figure it out.

Thank You to the Almanac for allowing this thread to stay up. I think this is important information. I posted this same story on talkabout on the coast and the links to it are now DEAD. I guess to publicly report on the behavior of the Supervisor is too much for them.

I did report that the deadline for this rare seat had been extended to the 31st, what I didn't say was the link on the County's website is still dead so you really have no idea what the requirements are if any.I have read that a Daly City Council member wants to be appointed he held this seat before for something like 10 years but was removed for his miserable attendance record. Daly City council is the one that some say Illegally reduced the City Clerks salary right after she was elected. I'm not sure if this is the kind of guy SMC wants.
