Elder abuse in Atherton

Original post made by elizabeth ashford, Atherton: Lloyden Park, on Nov 25, 2010

The failure of the Atherton Police Department to protect our wealthy elderly is utterly shameful.

There have been calls to have the San Mateo County Civil Grand Jury to investigate the DA and its relationship with the Atherton POA.

I do not share this view. Unless the Grand Jury's attention is tightly focused, it is bound to flounder.

For that reason I suggest that the Grand Jury conduct a post mortem on the Wickett Case. Specifically I suggest the Grand Jury to investigate why the Atherton PD failed to intervene for two and one half years on behalf of Ms. Wickett and why it was the Mayor, not the PD who was credited with saving Ms. Wickett's life.

I suggest that the Grand Jury subpoena Glen Nielsen and ask the former chief under oath, what did he know and when did he know it.

I also suggest that the Grand Jury ask Mr. Buckheit as to whether, during his conservatorship he has found any indications of culpability on the part of the Atherton PD.

Finally, I suggeest the Grand Jury subpoena Sherman Hall to ask him, under oath, why he dropped his criminal investigation so quickly after the death of Jon Armstrong.

These are serious matters, they should be given serious consideration by those who have the power to investigate the effectiveness of our local government.

This Thanksgiving it isn't the officers of the Atherton Police Department to whom Helene Wickett will be giving thanks for the life of her mother, it will be Kathy McKeithen.

Yes, there should be a grand jury investigation into the Atherton Police Department's (mis)handling of the Wickett Case.

In its investigation the Grand Jury should call upon the following current and former employees of the Department to testify:

Robert Brennan
Glen Nielsen
Sherman Hall
Kristin Nichols
Joe Wade

Are you reading this Mr. Phil Lively? Will you use your contacts at the County to get this grand jury investigation started.

It is about time the Atherton Police Department is held accountable for what can most charitably be described as negligence.

"For that reason I suggest that the Grand Jury conduct a post mortem on the Wickett Case. "

Is that it?

You post here, on xgiving no less, and that's your "call"?

Pick up the phone maybe?

Kristin, Nichols #6370
APD pg 11
Lt. Nielsen accompanied me because he has known (blank) for a long period of time. (blank) is very fond of Lt. Nielsen and we felt she might be more comfortable with Lt. Nielsen present.
I discussed videotaping the interview with Lt. Nielsen, Lt. Nielson felt that (blank) would be opposed to it.

pg. 32 ex wife reported that Jon Armstrong told her.

"Everything would be okay because he knew the chief."

Kristin Nichols couldn't investigate her way out of a paper bag. That is precisely the reason she was given the assignment to investigate the case Stogner refers to.

How is it that the editor (who is obviously a raving Republican)does remove a lot of posts which he or she may find distasteful or not in keeping with his or her way of thinking.
This online rambling by such a choice few "regulars" is like an old Brits Men's Club from another era.
A lot more younger people----obviously younger----have found themselves involved since the politics of the day are affecting some of the smarter ones who do not feel that much respect for most of the parents who still live in a society, ill managed and fumbled and has put theirs and my life on the line. We still must do the fighting for the support you gave our last administration.
The "wealthy elderly" are just a nuisance to all of you who claim to care. They are not treated the same as the old in countries like China or most Asian countries.
There are many Asian families of all sorts with a lot of money who do not care about the U.S. rich even while they are going to Stanford and make up the majority of the students.
If any of you, including the editors who are all too handy with the approach to the "voices" they are shutting out, there is a lot more money with the newer generation who will soon be taking control of the way the world works, or doesn't.
Personally, I think the leadership in San Mateo County is useless and only was strong when in the hands of the middle aged m/billionaires who became that way in the past 15 years. California is very important because it is basically 100% split from the East Coast mentality, except for those industries on life support and which are trying to have another go at it.
All of those who became rich are approaching 60, and are going to be as disposable as the elderly the subject matter is about. You are going to suffer worse, because an underlying revolution is happening if you ever talk to your more "involved" offspring or those who may take time to go to meetings where radicalism is alive and very potent among even those not seeking diplomas from our major western universities.
While the main spokesmen who are posting here daily seem to have all of the solutions, they are not even close to knowing how the next generation of people are thinking. Otherwise, a clown like Palin would not be permitted to exist.
She is a perfect decoy for misdirection. For now, I would suggest you take better care of the elderly, because there are a couple with revolutionary instincts left in them from the 40's.
This will all make sense to you when your children begin to take control of your lives earlier than you did your "elderly" parents.
