Election: Bohannon adds $325,000 to Measure T campaign

If everyone thinks this is such a great idea, why is the guy who stands to make hundreds of millions the only one contributing to the campaign? [Portion deleted.]

This giveaway to "Moneybuckets" Bohannon will make the pool giveaway to Tim Sheeper look like child's play.

The point here is to see who Bohannon with his war chest of $475,000 has been promoting along with Measure T.

He spent almost $15,000 in hit pieces against the best candidate Chuck Bernstein, the only candidate who really has laid open up the fiscal mess the city faces.

The choices should be clear on Tuesday.

Vote No on T.

Vote for Chuck Bernstein.

If you vote for Cline, Robinson or Keith, you vote for more development, more traffic.

If you vote for Keith, you vote with certainty for higher taxes. Robinson has been trying to lead council in that direction for months.

As we grassroots volunteer supporters of No on T are out in neighborhoods this weekend, we are seeing paid opponents hanging literature on doors and talking with selected voters. This is where some of the money is going.
It appears some of the rest is going to people who are stealing our right to free speech by removing No on T signs on major streets.

A very apropos question. The answer being that it benefits NO ONE but Bohannon. If measure T passes, mark my words, we will be sorry.

I sincerely doubt anyone on this forum hasn't made up his or her mind about Measure T one way or another, but if you're still undecided, here's an easy way to get closure. Imagine being trapped in a Chilean mine with 33 random people from either support list:

Just sticking in the B's, I'll take Rose Bickerstaff, Harry Bims, and John Boyle any day over Don Brawner, Elias Blawie, and Morris Brown.

This is about the project and whether it's a good deal for the city, not a popularity contest. We all will be stuck in this city with the impacts of the project. Many of us think the certain negative impcats are not worth the potential future benefits as currently negotiated. There's time to do better; nothing is going to happen soon.

Now we know where some of the money is going - to paid precinct walkers who are dropping literature for Yes on T and for Council Candidates Robinson, Cline, Keith. Funny - weren't these the people who were against developer money in the past, and now are feasting on it?

A politician being two faced? I'm shocked!! NOT! Disgusted, but not shocked. More good reasons to vote OUT the incumbents.

You knew there were going to be payoffs to the council members/candidates who supported the Measure, but who knew they would be so soon and so blatant? Pretty arrogant, I'd say. The Editor of this rag censored my comments when I had earlier written theoretically about such payoffs--now we have documentation.

Incidentally, I'm wondering whether Bohannon has already contributed the maximum allowable to these candidates? If so, he is now over the limit, given that the value of these marketing services must be taken into account.

By the way, "Reality Check;" Sheeper is now making use of city resources (access to our email addresses), in order to explicitly seek support for his current campaign, in the form of letters to relevant City officials.

Not only that, "Menlo Swim and Sport" recently sent out an annoucement regarding the opening of the new gym complex (funded by taxpayers along with Mr. Arrillaga), implicitly taking credit for this development. Are we also giving the gym to Mr. Sheeper to run?

Why does it seem like there is this pathetically juvenile "in-crowd" clique, reminiscent of high school, that seems to always aggregate on the same side of a debate in this one-horse town? Without mentioning names, these self-congratulating socialites with substantial personal wealth often seem to be doing their best to relive their High School glory and exclusivity. It's amusing, but tiresome.

There are those of us who were jocks in high-school and college, "popular kids", and achievers who have matured enough to see the superficiality, immaturity, and intellectual mediocrity of the MBA-set in town. We are the same folks that are unimpressed by advanced high school Excel and PowerPoint slide animation skills.

It would be nice if this MBA-set had some insight into their own intolerance of competing viewpoints without the social condescension of prom royalty in their 50s.

As a side note, I support Measure T. The fact that I have to be on the same side as the "in-crowd" is bothersome. I suppose we all have to hold our noses at some time in life ... no?
