Atherton Police Chief Mike Guerra says

What is the purpose of making this visible when we all KNOW there has been a problem in San Mateo County and the way the law operates?
Mr.Stogner, I am glad you bring it up as it was beginning to peak in every city within the county before the BANK FAILINGS and the loss of money by a lot of people who may have had favors from the different police and sheriff departments.
Now that investigations from outside the County have begun to determine exact amounts of favors and payoffs and arrests, the above will help to make people who were victims of the County and the police now be able to speak freely.
Perhaps Mr. Carpenter could suggest the procedure on how to file a complaint about the County. I certainly would not file within the County. I suggest Mr.Carpenter's background and expertise after serving over 50 years in so many vast areas of life and government.

I continue to support an independent Police Oversight Committee for Atherton and hope that the new Town Council will establish such a committee. I have NO faith in the San Mateo DA to do anything regarding malfesence in local government and hope that there is some way to get the Attorney General to focus on these issues.

If I were Mr. Buckheit's attorney, the first question I would ask Chief Guerra during his deposition is to tell me about those other false reports!

I have some Great news for victims of San Mateo County Law Enforcement Officers and that does include theSheriff's Department & District Attorneys Office.

There was another Factual Innocence ruling this April 29, 2010 in San Mateo County.

I agree with Peter Carpenter's statement, I have NO Faith or confidence in SMCDA to do anything regarding malfesence.

We can thank the Board of Supervisor's for this problem.

By the way Guerra keeps referring to this as an allegation.

This is Officer Dennis's STATEMENT, if not true Dennis should be held accountable, if true someone else or others are responsible.

That has to be about the stupidest statement by a chief of police I think I have ever read in my life. Chief Guerra, you just handed Mr. Buckheit a guaranteed victory in court with that statement. Was that your intention? What you've said is that your department has a history of falsifying police reports. Astonishing! Are you going to DO anything about it or just write it off as "boys will be boys?"

And if Chief Guerra isn't going to do anything about it, I suggest the town begin reserving funds to pay it's next lawsuit.

I just looked at Wiest's endorsement list--there no way the police dept is getting any reform if he wins a council seat--it's a Who's Who list of the old status quo--McKiethen haters--I shudder to think what his citizens commission would look like even he really did support one.

Frankly I continue to be astonished that all but one (and maybe, on a good day, two) member(s) of the council of this Town – all of whom have been elected to serve the residents – have tolerated the fact that an Atherton police officer admitted, in court, under oath, that a police report has been falsified against a resident. As the Palo Alto paper pointed out, the second time WITHIN A YEAR.

Apparently when the Palo Alto paper interviewed the candidates for endorsements, the question was posed: "what will you do about the officer who falsified the report?". The two incumbents reportedly replied they were constrained by unions and would require 100% certitude before taking any action.

I'm not 100% sure the sun will come up tomorrow. Anyway, if an admission in court isn't enough certitude for them, I don't know what is.

Well, the Almanac endorsed the two incumbents. Any council member who has stood idly by should be ashamed of himself or herself.

Isn't public service about helping people who have problems instead of dismissing them? When I ran a business, I was dealing with problems pretty much 100% of the time. Either problems employees had, or problems customers had. I never thought to label them as disgruntled and use that as a rationalization for not doing my job.

To the many residents who have lived here for many, many years and who believe the police department is uniformly wonderful, it's not 1972, the Lawrence Welk show isn't playing, and Dick Moore isn't the chief of police any longer.

The true test will be whether Guerra disciplines those who falsified police reports surrounding my detention on the morning of August 29th. There are still two officers employed who were present and who parcipitated in my illegal detention and the coverup thereafter.

It will also be interesting whether he recommends the DA prosecute former police chief who I discovered was using Town money without proper authorization, a violaiton of PC 424.

If Chief Guerra does not act. I expect that I will be a star witness in Jon Buckheit's case

I hope Chief helps me with my police report that has some serious "mistakes" or lies.
These "mistakes" in my police report may have been communicated to APS. I'm not sure because APS refuses to offer me a written reason for their actions or more accurately lack of action that is putting my elderly parent at great risk.

Lisa is talking about the simple fact that it was her face that was being punched while she was on the floor. The Atherton Police Department's report does not reflect that.
