I do not understand why Atherton hasn't tried to settle with Jon Buckheit

Did it ever cross your mind that it's because police officers didn't do anything wrong? Think about it.

Think about it:

if the Police had done nothing wrong why would Mr. Buckheit receive a finding of factual innocence by a judge? And if the Police had done nothing wrong why would they not release the report to him for nine months? The answer to these two questions is that they had done something wrong. If you want to know why the town doesn't settle ask the "gang of three" - Lewis, Carlson and Marsala. All ethically challenged themselves.

If the Town had any sene it would settle with Jon Buckheit. Then it would beg him to become City Manager.

Kathy McKeithen has tried her best to work with whom Menlo Voter calls "the gang of three".

As a gesture of good faith,McKeithen dismissed Mr. Buckheit as a candidate for City Manager because of his "baggage". This, despite the fact that Mr. Buckheit singlehandedly took down a years' long arch enemy of hers Charles Marsala.

If anything McKeithen should be Buckheit's greatest champion at the moment. McKeithen is not. So if McKeithen will refuse to back Buckheit for City Manager, maybe she should consider drafting Colleen Anderson as a candidate for City Manager, at least on an interim basis.

I have said it before, Atherton needs a resident to serve as interim City Manager. It needs someone who has ability and preferably someone who doesn't need the job.

An advantage that Colleen has is that she is well known and highly respected. She also has an ability to actualy get along with both the Lewis camp and the Lewis camp, the two groups that despise one another.

So there you have it, a very elegant solution to a very knotty problem. Hire Colleen Anderson as interim City Manager, make her first job to drive consensus amongst the City Council on a settlement with Buckheit.

Then once a settlement is agreed with Buckheit, let Colleen go back to her life and hire Buckheit to finish up the cleanup of the Town that is so badly needed.

I'm still ready and willing to step in serve the Town but I believe there are better candidates who live in Town even though they too have "baggage".

My father once told me you could die of a misprint when he was in the hospital. It is proven that something was done wrong. Question is was it with or without malice? Was the report changed because someone that typed it didn't understand, or was it changed to cover up something. This mistake either way has gone on long enough. A judge has found Jon to be innocent. We should act accordingly and get to the bottom of it. We need peace in our town. Let's solve this mystery.

Let me state for the record I like cops. As a child I was Explorer Post 810. I even thought about being a cop when I was younger. What I don't like is when people treat cops with disrespect, and are demeaning to them. What I don't like even more is when you have cops give other cops a bad name. When you have a system that makes people question cops integrity. Like not giving Jon his police report when he requested it. Costing Atherton $8,000.00, and now making us question the very integrity of the entire police force.

Q. Is it your belief that someone changed your report or added this into the report?
A. That appears what happened, that appears to be what have happened, yes, because I do not remember putting that in there, nor was that my intention.
Q. Okay. Do you know who that individual is?
A. No, I did not.
Q. Did you make any investigation in order to determine?
A. I have not.

Something isn't right here. The fact that Atherton isn't coming forward with more facts, and make people accountable for this I personally do not understand. If people don't trust and respect our police force in these hard times we are going to loose them to out-sourcing. Again a lack of judgement on a select few will hurt many. Where I come from that's so wrong.
People do the right thing. Work off truth not hiding.

Undisputed fact 1: Mr. Buckheit was arrested, handcuffed, put in the back of police car and taken to jail.

Undisputed fact 2: Regarding Mr. Buckheit's arrest, the court made a finding of factual innocence, an extraordinarily rare occurrence.

If Fact 1 and Fact 2 happened to you, you'd probably consider yourself "wronged."
