Setting record straight on Folger Stable

The renovation of the Folger Stable in Woodside cost $3 million, not the $5 million stated in the Sept. 15 issue of The Almanac, and the project is a renovation, not a restoration, said fundraising co-chairs Susan Lang and Jill Daly in an e-mail.

Isn't the real reason for restoration to "cement" the grounds and declare it as a HISTORICAL SITE so that no future building on the grounds ever be possible?
A thin disguise for more fear of having "outsiders" enter the domain.
Compared to the Steven Jobs fiasco in Woodside, this is being done with a some smarts.
Still, the motives are way too premature and, at the same time, very clear.
I suggest you call in an expert in demographics from an outside area like Connecticut or Middleburg,VA...

The Folger Stable is registered as a national historic structure and has been for about seven years, according to sources connected with the stable renovation.

The group raising money for an endowment fund for the stable has a goal of $1 million, and they are $850,000 toward that goal, according to fundraising committee co-chair Susan Lang.
