Menlo Park downtown parking targeted for change

Sure, great idea. Now no one will wantto shop here. The parking enforcement is nasty in temperment, and unforgiving if you show up 30 seconds post due. The process to fight a ticket is arduous, and designed to imply you are guilty until proven otherwise....and basically, most people who would come to our neighborhood to shop, would like to do so in a relaxed, manner....not stressed because of the parking. Say goodbye to happy shoppers and hello to reduced sales tax. Menlo Park is a city where money is more important than the happy and relaxed atmosphere we used to enjoy, and is basically turning into a creepy place to live, or bring your friends. Thanks so much.

Please, please do not make it harder to shop, dine, do your errands, conduct business, etc. in Menlo Park. It's hard enough as it is. If you want parking turnover, why not go to the parking meter system employed in Redwood City. It's 25 cents for 30 mins., the meters take coins or credit cards, and you can park for as long as you are willing to pay for. I know that it is not free parking, but at least it affords you the opportunity to do the business/pleasure that you set out to do. Even with the theater being adjacent to the dining, shopping (not so much of that), courts, and the museum in downtown RWC, it is easy to find a space. Think about it ...

Please stop providing free parking. It is an extremely poor use of valuable real estate. Charge for parking with a tiered rate system that charges most for the locations closest to shopping, less for those willing to park farther away and walk a bit. Let people decide whether they want to pay or walk, but don't give it away for free.

It is going to cost the city $55K, plus the loss of how much revenue ? This whole thing is ridiculous. All the city wants is money, money money. They could care less about the citizens, visitors who want to shop & enjoy a relaxed time. What about the merchants on Santa Cruz Ave, what do they say? They will be directly affected, besides the city with lost revenue ! They should add more stores in Sharon Heights, at least the parking is free and accessible, no parking tickets or tow zones.

I notice the same thing....the city wants more money (Bohannon, downtown project, parking) and I want to think they have a reason for that. But, what is it? Our population has not grown, our services are shrinking (think Library) so what do they need it for? Is it coming pension costs? Some forseen need for something we citizens cannot imagine? Is it due to shrinking state money or state take aways? An explanation would be helpful.

Shouldn't the City Counsel be more concerned with redeveloping the Menlo Park business district on El Camino Real and Santa Cruz Avenue, then to waste more time and tax revenues pondering how to charge for parking? This council is a disgrace.
