Why is it only the running of the pool that is being put out to bid? Considering what the pool has saved us being privately run, are we nuts that we aren't doing the same with at least one other service?

so, what has it saved us by being privateky run??? What other city services are you talking about. Sure would be nice to get specifics rather than generl shots in the dark and see what is hit!!

I'm not advocating any of these but you could consider maintenance services, landscape services, plan checking (for the building department) and police services - to name just four.

Regarding red light cameras, one of the things the MP council needs to consider is giving refunds to people who got tickets at Bayfront/Willow.
Why?
The yellow was too short, and on July 2 Caltrans lengthened it by 1/2 sec. The official stats for July show that tickets issued were down to 58 in July, compared to 189 in May and 185 in June. Looking at these figures another way, prior to the lengthening, three times as many people got tickets as should have. (To find the stats, go to highwayrobbery dot net.)
