Gutless Council punts again

Original post made by Peter Carpenter, Atherton: Lindenwood, on Jul 21, 2010

It is time for either direct democracy in Menlo Park where the voters take on the responsibility of managing the City or a totally new Council that is prepared to perform its responsibilities. Last night the Council decided not to provide a supporting argument for the pension initiative which it voted to place on the November ballot.

How can the Council vote to spend scarce tax dollars to put this on the ballot and then have "No Comment"?

At this rate there will be a lot of items for MP voters to decide on the November ballot - pension initiative, Bohannon, hotel tax. What is next? Oh yes, three Council seats - primary job requirement - able to make a decision.

Because they are all afraid of the unions and tehy all need their support to get reelected. God forbid they should take a stand against the unions.
