Stogner achievement? After gaining considerable momentum several weeks ago by winning critical endorsements from Atherton civic leaders Jon Buckheit and Peter Carpenter, Stogner has transformed from a "crank" to a force to be reckoned with in San Mateo County.
Without spending ANY money, Stogner garnered 4,243 county votes, or 6.8% in a five-candidate race. To put things into perspective, Steve Poizner spent $24M of his own money in the gubernatorial primary and got 5,105 votes in San Mateo County.
Stogner's platform? Victim's advocacy, accountability for law enforcement (both financially and conduct wise), and fidelity to elected constituents.
4,243 people do not believe anything goes for Stephen Wagstaffe bending justice, Atherton police officers falsifying police reports, Sheriff Greg Munks visiting sex slave farms, or Elizabeth Lewis building an illegal home.
How many people would have voted for Stogner had he spent a quarter of the money Don Horsely did with the rich law enforcement political machine behind him?
Michael Stogner has been almost a lone crusader for years in this county. When courageously stepping up to defend victims like John Johns, he's been dismissed as a member of a small group of misfits who have no clout or credibility.
Well, the bullies who dismissed Stogner are in for a very, very rude awakening.
