Worried about my poor posture, Mom enrolled me in Mrs. Crowder's dance class in the early 1970's. There was no disguising my lanky adolescent body destined for six feet stature. Mrs. Crowder taught exercises for life. I think about her everyday when I stretch. She had the straightest spine ever and the sweetest smile, too! Happy Birthday!!!

Your readership extends well beyond the East Bay--this comment comes from the community of Ballard in Seattle, Washington. My cousin Rod has been forwarding links to your articles about Marianne Crowder, my aunt (perhaps great aunt?--she was married to my grandfather's brother). I'm attaching this comment to the story about her birthday party rather than her recent passing, because to me she'll always be a vibrant presence in my thoughts, with her big personality and megawatt smile. She was an amazing woman and deserved every party she was given. :) All of us should be so fortunate. Thanks for writing about her.
