Facing layoffs and a serious budget shortfall, staff in the Portola Valley School District voted to forgo salary increases for the coming school year.

Kudos to the PV staff. This is a great way to show your solidity with the school community during rough times, and I am sure it will not be forgotten when/if good times return and it's possible to restore these annual step and column raises.

Are the teachers following suit?
