Jerry Carlson Admits Errors in Judgment

In voting to give Charles Marsala a get out of jail free card and allowing Wynne Further to keep her job, Jerry Carlson admitted that he himself was guilty of errors in judgment during his tenure as a councilman.

During the next City Council session Mr. Carlson will be asked whether his error in judgment included voting to be so generous as to refund $1.6 million in road impact fees (without taking a single deposition) all the while being so miserly with Jon Buckheit in the voting to settle with him for little more than nuisance value on his federal civil rights lawsuit.

Mr. Carlson does seem to have committed a grave error in judgment. He overestimated the strength of one adversary while underestimating the strength of another.

Mr. Carlson will soon learn to be more careful in picking his battles.

We all make mistakes.

I would rather see Mr. Carlson correct his, than remain silent in the face of such an apparent breach of integrity by his peers.

It's time to man up, Mr. Carlson...

The bottom line is that, for whatever reason, Mr. Carlson has consistently voted in a manner which quells publicity and drama, but which also does not express or represent ANY consistent ethical perspective that I can perceive.

Is it so illegitimate to ask the question: 'Why?' ?

His voting influence seems to be in a direction that castrates any progress towards the recovery of ethical government.

It is about appeasing, calming, concealing and keeping things quiet. Keeping the messiness of the Town squabbling at a minimum.

My speculative and unresolved issue is whether this is really his agenda, or the agenda of others.

I think about who calls Jerry at night.

Allen Carlson for sure would be calling "pops" at least three time a week--Didi Fisher and Janz, probably only once a week.
Elizabeth Lewis is smart enough to concentrate on Shirley and not bother too much with Jerry.
None of these councilmen was ever willing or ever able to admit Ms.McKiethen was right about anything. [Portion removed]
Why couldn't they just say "Good call " Kathy and "Thanks" now lets move on ??
They still all still prefer to see the entire fleet and treasure go down with the ex-captains.
I don't think they were afraid to be occasionally wrong--they just couldn't stand to admit that she was often, or even ever, right.
Some special interest puppet mastermind did an incredible job of manipulating the egos of these players into dissension for reasons of their own secret design.
There are several ex mayors who will someday have to face the fact that they allowed themselves to be played for fools and betrayed their own principals and public trust to boot.
Not exactly "divide and rule" tactics at work here--
More like " subdivide and rule"

I also think about the client lists at Janz's and A. Carlson's Law firms.
