Another bad idea. We are $20,000,000,000 in debt for the year in California and these political hacks want the taxpayers to pay for their campaigns. Public financing always benefits the incumbant. Time to cut spending in Sacramento and Washington and throw the bums out.

How this would be paid for? Lobbyists' licensing fees (currently $12.50 for an annual license!!) would increase---as they should. States like Arizona & Maine already have successful, voluntary, publicly financed campaigns with wide bipartisan support. For elections that money can't buy, it's time for California to get the big special interest $$ out of govt so our elected officials can spend their time representing our interests, instead of fundraising.
