There has been no shortage of newspaper headlines in the week since the release of a report on the California high-speed rail project, estimating higher fares and higher costs.

Why would anyone ride such a train to commute to and from work? This is not unlike Santa Clara Counties Light Rail-- relatively speaking-- NO ONE rides it. And the cost to build it (let alone maintain it) was all sprung on taxpayer dollars to help traffic congestion.

Other than people moving across California (once every five years) and people on vacation (once a year), who would want to ride this train?
