Why are the residents being asked to pay a parcel tax to repair roads damaged by contractors who are only in town to make money??? It's a dumb idea.

There certainly shouLd be a fee for contractors! There also are many huge truckS that use Walsh Road and Reservoir Road on their way to and from the Ca. Water treatment plant! I WOULD HOPE THAT THEY ARE NOT EXEMPT !

That's right, make businesses pay for everything, then tax them some more, then tax the tax that we forgot to tax. Please give it a rest! The contractors that "are only in town to make money" more than make up their share of taxes.(by the way, do you go to work, "just to make money?" Think about the home they built, or remodeled and think about the taxes that will be paid on those properties now. Think about the products they may have purchased in nearby Menlo Park, or the county (since Atherton doesn't have any stores) and the taxes they have paid. Think about the jobs they have supplied, etc.
Stop taxing businesses, we have taxed businesses so much in the state of California that we now have the dubious distinction of being the #1 state for businesses lost, and job losses. And, our biggest recipient of our jobs is not India or China, it's Nevada and Arizona. Sounds like a rant, but this starts on the grass roots level. Cut back the business taxes!!
