Bohannon project: what benefits for city?

Menlo Park developer David Bohannon wants to build a 1-million-square-foot hotel and office project off Independence and Constitution drives in eastern Menlo Park. Now, two City Council members will try to figure out how to make sure the city gets proper benefits in return for approving a project of that size.

Mr. Brown's short and one sided article makes Menlo Park sound like a feudal state, with Bohannon having to serve Lords Cohen and Fergusson's bidding.

I like the fact that the compost item immediately follows the Bohannon one. Almost seems like a sly editorial comment,though I am sure it was inadvertent.

We don't need the $2 or $3 million in new taxes a 245-room hotel would bring in. Just raise the utility tax again.

The hotel is fine. It's all the other stuff that Bohannon wants that will shut out a chunk of our tax base and double our housing requirements per ABAG.
