Carolyn Ruddell Samuels dies after being struck by vehicle

Carolyn Ruddell Samuels, a former resident of Portola Valley, Woodside and Menlo Park, died Aug. 30 of injuries after being struck by a vehicle while she was running in Santa Barbara with a training group for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training.

This is very sad news. For Carolyn to be gutsy enough to start a new life in Santa Barbara and take on marathon running was so inspiring! Another senseless death at the hands of a drunk or drugged driver is so frustrating. Why do the good die at the hands of idiots?
