Mike was an amazing, giving guy. I had given him clothes for the VA over the years, and he always hit me up for more each time he saw me, with a laugh. Always smiling, always helping those less fortunate, and always bending over backward for his fellow veterans, I was awed by the man. Mike Salome was a great American, and his service and life of giving to others, should be an example to all. I am sure the old soldier was welcomed into heaven with by his fellow soldiers who had gone ahead of him. Though I am saddened for his loss, I am glad I got to meet him. My deepest condolences to his family, and my deepest respect.

Is he the guy who always drove a crown victoria with POW plates? Lived off of Willow, west of Middlefield Road? Showed up to civic events all the time, handed out stickers, wore hat and jacket, garage full of stuff...
