Nine-hundred players, aged 5-12 played in the Alpine League this spring, including T-Ball, Coach-Pitch, Pitching Machine, Minors and Majors. The Alpine league includes players from west Menlo Park, Woodside and Portola Valley. Menlo-Atherton divisions include players from Atherton and Menlo Park, east of El Camino Real.
All eyes will be on the Alpine Majors MCA-Hengehold game on Saturday as the teams play their final season game. MCA inched ahead of Hengehold in pre-tournament standings, with Tuesday's win (MCA rallied with 2 outs, no-runners-on in the 6th inning to add six runs to defeat the Luttickens team, 8-7). The winner of Saturday's game will earn the 6th tournament position (the top six teams will earn a bye in the first round of the majors-division tournament).
In addition to tournament play, Alpine and Menlo-Atherton leagues are preparing for Fall-Ball. Registration will open shortly for Majors teams (ages 9-11) for Alpine as well as Menlo-Atherton players. For the second year, Alpine and Menlo-Atherton will organize a joint league for Minors players (ages 8-10). Fall-Ball registration information will be available through the league websites (www.ezteamz.com/alpine, and www.m-all.org).
