Attempted burglary in Atherton on Tuesday

There was an attempted burglary in Atherton on the first block of Fairview Avenue in Atherton on Tuesday evening, Dec. 12, according to a police news bulletin.

The suspects tried to get into the home through a broken window in the master bedroom on the ground floor of the house at 6:12 p.m., police said.

Cmdr. Dan Larsen said a burglary alarm went off when the glass was broken.

"I don’t know if the alarm was an audible alarm or a silent alarm," he said. "It's unknown as to why the subjects did not enter the residence."

There have been 19 home burglaries in Atherton this year, according to Larsen.
