Palo Alto police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found on a downtown block on Wednesday morning, Aug. 16, according to the police. No foul play is suspected.

Police said a passerby reported seeing the body at about 6:23 a.m. Police officers and firefighters responded to the scene and confirmed that the person was deceased.

Officers closed the 600 block of Waverley, near Hamilton Ave., throughout Wednesday morning while they were investigating.

According to a police news release, a passerby noticed the body laying on the ground between a parked 2021 Dodge Challenger and the sidewalk. The vehicle, which was legally parked next to the Wells Fargo building on the corner of Waverley and Hamilton on Wednesday morning, belonged to the man, according to the police.

Police said they did not find any obvious signs of foul play and have seen no evidence that suggested a crime had occurred.

Officers remained on the scene until about 10:30 a.m, when the Dodge Challenger was towed away from the scene and to the police headquarters at City Hall. Waverley was then reopened to traffic.
