Atherton: Police deliver toys to Adelante Selby Lane students

Members of th Atherton Police Activities League and Police Officers' Association delivered toys donated by community members to students at Adelante Selby Lane Spanish Immersion School, formerly Selby Lane School, in Atherton on Monday, Dec. 16.

The organizations host the toy drive annually during the holidays. They also started an annual "Shop With a Cop" day for students in need from Las Lomitas, Encinal and Laurel elementary schools last year.

This year, the organizations collected about 300 to 350 gifts, including at least nine bicycles, according to Atherton Mayor Rick DeGolia. The items included: Legos, art supplies, Hot Wheels, jump ropes, science projects, Barbies and other dolls, action figures, blankets, warm clothes, basketballs, soccer balls, sports equipment and jewelry-making kits.
